As every year passes by, new beauty tips, tricks and hacks are made. I have collected some of my favourite tips and written them down. If you try any of these, don’t forget to tell me how it worked out for you.
Tip 1: Getting rid of hyper-pigmentation and marks for cheap
It is common between women and men of all ages to get acne and scars. Some of us suffer from hyperpigmentation and discolouration of skin too. Uneven skin tone can make our skin look dull and unappealing. Therefore, we try all the methods out there to make sure our skin stays clear and even.
Home remedies are essential as they cause no damage to your skin and sometimes, they can get rid of your problems too. Face masks including honey and diluted lemon juice have a good hand in clearing up your skin.
Aloe Vera mixed with witch hazel is known to get rid of scars and uneven skin tone. Aloe Vera contains properties that can reduce inflammation and redness, meanwhile, witch hazel is ideal to remove oils from your skin — while not drying it out completely.
Using a mixture of these two products can help you get rid of blemishes and hyperpigmentation.
Tip 2: Argan oil for hair
Argan oil has countless benefits for skin and hair. If you are suffering from heat damage, hair fall and dandruff then you should definitely try using Argan oil.
Argan oil is rich in fatty acids and Vitamin E. It has moisturizing and anti–aging properties. It can be applied to the skin as well!
Take a few drops of Argan oil and smear it around your scalp and hair. You can even try using Argan oil as an overnight hair mask. This process can show an immediate difference in your hair, making it soft, smooth and silky. If you are suffering from dandruff and irritation, this oil can do the job.
You can use Argan oil in different ways, it isn’t necessary to use the oil itself. Argan oil is now available in capsules and pills which can be as beneficial as organic Argan oil is.
Tip 3: Blackhead removal
Blackhead or whiteheads are irritating – and we all are aware of that! They can make our makeup seem cakey, our skin dirty and can lower our self-esteem.
The options to get rid of blackheads are endless but also very costly. A permanent blackhead removal can execute the problem for good but if you are looking for a quick, cheap hack to get rid of blackheads, continue.
DIY pore strip:
What you will need:
- Unflavored gelatin
- Makeup brush
Add 1 tbsp of unflavored gelatin to an empty bowl. Add 2-3 tbsp of milk and mix it well. Put the bowl inside the microwave for a good 15 seconds or until a paste-like consistency isn’t formed. Let it cool and then using a makeup brush apply the paste on your skin or wherever you have blackheads.
Wait until the formula dries out and then peel it off like a normal pore strip. You will notice the amount of dirt and blackheads this pore strip will capture.
Tip 4: Bio-oil before makeup
Using Bio Oil for diminishing scars can work but did you know it has much more benefits than just that?
Bio Oil contains flower/plants extracts such as; lavender oil and leaf oil. It is known to be very effective for blemishes and stretch marks. It contains isopropyl myristate which is used for hydration of your skin.
Using Bio Oil a couple of hours before applying your makeup is a major advantage for your skin. It will leave your skin soft and glowing so even after you have applied your makeup; your skin will seem hydrated!
Tip 5: DIY lip tint
Tired of using store – bought lip tints with chemicals that are unknown to you? With this DIY lip tint, you won’t need to look for any other lip tint anymore. This lip tint contains Vaseline which is an amazing source of hydration so no more dried or cracked lips!
What you will need:
- A small container
- Coloured lipstick or lip-gloss [you can use lip liner too!]
- Metal bowl
Light up a candle and place the metal bowl above it. Scoop out a tablespoon of Vaseline and place it inside the bowl. Wait for it to melt but make sure it doesn’t burn.
Choose your desired lipstick for the colour of the lip tint. If you are using a lip liner, cut some of it and melt it along with Vaseline. If you don’t have a favourite lipstick then you can break down a red/pink colour eye shadow and mix it with Vaseline.
Keep mixing it together for a good minute and then move the paste into the plastic container.
Place it in the fridge for an hour and make sure it settles down before using it. This lip tint will nourish your lips while giving your desired lip colour. The lip colour will last for a few days and it won’t wash off quickly.
Tip 6: Sweat hack
It is horrible to find out that you have a sweat patch underneath your arm. To fix this you will require a loose powder and a daily deodorant.
After you have applied your deodorant, grab a brush and pat down some powder above the deodorant. This hack will help you to smell amazing all day and it will prevent sweat patches!
Tip 7: Grow eyelashes with a secret serum
False lashes and mascara is great but who doesn’t want natural long eyelashes without using extensions? A great hack to grow eyelashes is to use coconut oil and Vaseline.
They both help in enabling hair growth and can be used to thicken eyelashes. Grab a small container and mix a tbsp of coconut oil with Vaseline.
Clean up an old mascara wand that you aren’t using or buy mascara wands here. Apply the mixture every night and you will notice a major difference after a week! Make sure that the mixture reaches to the roots of your eyelashes.
Tip 8: Lemon sugar scrub
Let’s move skincare and hair care aside for a moment and think about body care. One of the top essentials for showering I have is a DIY sugar scrub. Apart from the enjoyment in creating and storing the scrub is the number of benefits you can receive.
So let’s get on the ingredients you will need to create your very own lemon sugar scrub.
Lemon has a high source of a vitamin C which is known to get rid of any dark spots. If you have ingrown hair scars or any other blemishes on your body then you should definitely try this scrub.
What you will need:
- A cute jar to store your scrub
- Lemon zest
- Lemon essential oil [not necessary]
- Coconut oil
Pour in 2 cups of granulated sugar in a large bowl along with ½ cup of coconut oil. Mix it well. The consistency of it shouldn’t be extremely oily – if it is, add more sugar. Make sure the particles of the sugar you are going to use aren’t too big otherwise you will over exfoliate your skin and break a few tissues. Now, we don’t want that to happen.
The next step to this process is to add lemon zest or lemon essential oil. This is to create a fragrance so you smell great all day long.
Store the mixture in a tight container and use this scrub once a week for maximum benefits. Gently scrub it on your skin and avoid harsh rubbing. This sugar scrub will leave your body soft and clean.
Tip 9: Night cream for glowing skin
What you will need:
- Coconut oil
- Vitamin E oil
The process of this homemade night cream is simple. You will just need two products and these products can be available anywhere. Mix these products and store them inside a small container. Before falling asleep, apply this cream and you will wake up with a moisturized, soft and smooth skin.
If you are living in a cold area, this is the best cream for you – it contains all the moisture you will ever need. Not only that, Vitamin E slows down the process of ageing as it contains anti–aging properties. It also reduces sun damage, nourishes your skin and helps in healing any blemishes.
Tip 10: Witch hazel
Using a witch hazel as a toner can be extremely beneficial for your skin and the price of this doesn’t break your bank. It has an anti-irritant property which is amazing if you have sensitive skin.
